ABOUT

My name is Evan Guetz. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey, LPC #37PC00870400.

I live down the shore, and can see people all over New Jersey via telehealth. I assist in the self-healing process that we all have inside us. I generally work with stress, mostly traumatic stress, and how it impairs our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I have been working in the behavioral health provisions industry since 2012. I graduated with a bachelors of science in psychology, sur cum laude (Capella University, MN) and masters of clinical psychology, with distinction (Capella University, MN). I’ve held different titles and fulfilled different roles in therapeutic settings in my career. I’m always learning more, and seeking clinical training for treating trauma.

I’m a certified volunteer Disaster Response Crisis Counselor for New Jersey DHS Division of Mental Health and Addictions Disaster and Terrorism Branch, and serve to volunteer Psychological Forensic Evaluations for asylum seekers through the Physicians for Human Rights Asylum Network. Places I’ve worked include behavioral therapist for youth; behavioral therapist for community-based outreach for autism and all ages; therapist for inpatient residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings for adults and teens with cooccurring issues (mental health and substance/addictions); clinical supervisor of professional peer-support specialists in recovery; clinical supervisor of other therapists (Approved Clinical Supervisor, ACS #5061); therapist for community mental health and group practice outpatient settings; & consultant and trainer for social services staff at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS). I have had different learning experiences at all of the place I’ve worked. I am inspired by, and I lookup to, all the people I serve or have provided services to.

I can offer short-term, long-term therapeutic relationships based on individual needs. Here’s a bit about what working with me looks like. During the first session, I delve into your past, present, and future to create a plan for positive change. I focus on Herman’s stages of recovery to work towards a successful healing experience. I empathize with your journey for creating realistic goals, use evidence-based interventions from proven theories, and support you in all of the dimensions of wellness. *Therapy services are offered virtually.
